Dear Modern Solutions Community,
I am excited to announce Modern Solution’s newest product offering, Colocation in Los Angeles, California! As a company we have grown so much in the last three years, and we are now at the point where we have the ability to expand and target new markets while maintaining our core values and supporting all of our current customers on their endeavors. In this post I will outline briefly what this means for our company, as well as what Colocation is for those of you who are not familiar. This product will not apply to everyone, but is a big step in our company, and so we wanted to share it with our community.
To this point we have shipped all of our hardware to datacenters across the country in smaller colocation sizes (1U) and will continue to do so, but with the release of our new space in Los Angeles, we now have the ability to take greater control of our hardware and offer the ability for you to entrust us with yours. We have big plans to continue this expansion of colocation space in other places around the United States, always keeping in mind our central roots, but Los Angeles was the perfect spot to start. With the ability to support customers all across the US with low latency on our premium network, we now also are able to support those potential customers coming to us from the Asia Pacific.
What is Colocation?
Colocation allows customers with their own server hardware to house it in our datacenter cabinet(s). Why would someone want this? For most people, hosting a server in their home is not a viable solution due to power costs, internet abilities, and cooling. Having a datacenter colocate your server for you allows the datacenter to manage cooling, remote hands such as installing RAM, hard drives, etc as well as all power and bandwidth. The colocation process is simple. A customer has a server already purchased or is planning to purchase one, once the customer is ready, they ship their server to our datacenter, and we rack it as well as complete all initial setup of IP binding and DDoS mitigation. Colocation is targeted towards business owners, large gaming servers, and tech enthusiasts who need a little extra power and reliability for their craft.
What Does This Mean for Me?
If you are a current VPS customer of Modern Solutions, what this means is that we are going to be offering a new location in the very near future, Los Angeles, California! If you run a larger server and want to explore the world of colocation, feel free to reach out to our support team or contact me directly and we would be happy to answer any questions that you have!
For dedicated server customers wanting to either own their own hardware or expand into Los Angeles, we will be opening a whole new line of LA based dedicated servers in the coming weeks. With any questions, please do not hesitate to reach out to us.
For RocketCAD and other non-hosting product customers, this really doesn’t mean much on the surface, but know that we have no plans to stop or slow down any development that we have on RocketCAD and our other products, in fact, we are just getting started! We love RocketCAD and can’t wait to bring out our next update in the next couple weeks (look for beta testing announcements :))
How do I get Started?
Getting started with Colocation can seem like a daunting task, but we’ve actually made it very simple. Head over to our Los Angeles Colocation page and take a look at our different plan offerings. If at any point you have any questions or would like a custom quote for our larger 1/2 and full cabinet options, open a livechat with us or reach out to me via email at any time.
In closing, we are excited to bring this new product into our company and are humbled by the support you’ve shown for Modern Solutions over the past three years. We cannot wait to bring even better service to you in the future and are thrilled to have a community around us.
